Is Low Dose Of Lisinopril Or Some Form Of Blood Pressure Medication A Better Option Than Ibuprofen?

My boyfriend was admitted to the ER today and he said they assessed him and they told him that his blood pressure was the problem and told him to take ibuprofen and that was it...I am pharmacy technician and it just seems to me that would prescribe him a low dose of lisinopril or some form of blood pressure medication rather than ibuprofen

Hi,

You are right, instead of ibuprofen, they should have prescribed other anti-hypertenstive drugs. However, high blood pressure should be first determined.

Ibuprofen can be a solution to pain he might have. I suggest to ask him to monitor his blood pressure for one week on daily basis and to record the results for further evaluation.
I also suggest to schedule an appointment with cardiologist and to run cardiac tests:

- EKG
- cardiac echo
- stress test

For further evaluation and to decide if he needs to start antihypertensive drugs and to decide for thee best and most suitable for his case.

Hope of was of help!
