Is Laxative Causing Blood In Stool?
i had an abortion 1 week ago . i got an infection i was perscribed nunaproxin? and tylenol 4 for cramping then i got constapated so i used a laxative without asking my doctor now i have alot of blood in my stool ? is that normal or should i go to the hospital?

It is not the laxative but the constipation that has caused the blood in the stool. Being constipated, hard stool is bound to be formed and if this is pushed down fast and hard by a laxative, it is bound to injure the mucosal lining the anal canal resulting in bleeding. To control this, you need to use stool softeners and local applications of xylocaine jelly and sucralfate. A local exam also is necessary to exclude organic causes. Increase the amount of dietary fiber and liquids. Hope this helps.
