Hi,
Thanks for the query.

Dubagest is a progesterone, a hormone used to maintain pregnancy. The levels of this hormone increase naturally during pregnancy. Sometimes if the levels are low, then it may lead to abortions. You must have understood by now that it is used in women having risk of abortions. Some doctors use it prophylactically, just to be safe and decrease the risk of abortion. You have not mentioned your obstetric history regarding number of previous pregnancies if any and their outcome as it helps in deciding the treatment.

The literature of dubagest does not suggest that it is helpful in cases where there is no risk. Meaning that if natural progesterone is adequate it does not make a difference if you take it or not. There are no reported harmful effects to the baby if this drug is taken but it is not used to help fetal brain development.

Now regarding stopping the drug. It is difficult to say what effect this will have. Theoretically it should not cause any issues as natural progesterone is enough to maintain pregnancy. If you have started it already, try to take it alternate day and see if you have any pain or heaviness in the lower abdomen. If you have such symptoms maybe you must continue to take it. If there are no effects, just stop it after one or two doses of alternate day regimen.

I think taking it or not taking the drug does not make a difference if there are no high risk factors.

Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day and take care.
