Is It Safe To Take Vyvanse During Second Trimester Of Pregnancy?
I've been off my vyvanse for about 4 months and I can definitely tell the difference in my mood and how non - productive I am. I can't seem to finish anything I do and I recently just got a new job and I can hardly function doing my job. So I was just wondering if it would be safe to take vyvanse during the second trimester? I'm currently 5 months pregnant
Vyvanse is a antidepressant containing lisdexamphetamine. It belongs to category C drugs in pregnancy according to FDA. Means animal studies have shown some adverse effects on the fetus and sufficient human studies are lacking. So these type of drugs to be used when benefits overweigh the risks and with doctor's advice only. Better to avoid using this drug in pregnancy as per as possible. Try to follow other methods like meditation, reading good books, taking the support of your family members etc to deal with the depression. If needed take councilling with psychiatrist once. Take care.
