i am having a endoscopy tomorrow i am a female 46 years old with diabetes, asthma and i take levothyroxine for thyroid . i am at the end of my cold but still coughing i want to know is it still ok to have the procedure also i have had my gall bladder removed some years back and couple of the clips used to tie off have come loose and are floating in the area will i have a problem with that also and i am drug sensitive and i don't do well under anesthesia. i have a very low tolerance and i normally sleep a lot kinda scared
Hello Good day. It is better to avoid any drug and water on the day of endoscopy and you may take levothyroxine after the procedure is over. Endoscopy require a clean emplty stomach for proper visualization. It doesn't involve much aneasthesia. Light sedation and they just spray local anaesthesia to throat. However, if you have cough, it is always better to postpone endoscopy it till you are free from cough Regards Binu
