Is It Safe To Give Second Suppository For Bowel Movement After Cervical Spine Surgery?

My husband had cervical spine surgery last week Thursday and has not had a bowel movement since. His pain meds have no doubt contributed to the problem....morphine and robaxin. He is so uncomfortable that he cannot even sit. We used a dulcolax medicated laxative suppository, but it has not had any effect. Can we use a second suppository? Is there anything else for a quick relief from his misery?

Hi,
If there is no bowel movement after suppository for half an hour you can insert second dulcolax suppository.
If there is absolute constipation then enema can be given.
Give him plenty of water.
Ok and take care.
