Is It Safe To Do Exercise With Pacemaker Implanted?

I am a 47-year-old male and had a pacemaker implanted three years ago. I have been afraid to do much exercising because when I did after my implantation the result was a heart ablation. My cardiologist now says I can do anything I want but the pacemaker technician tells me to only do aerobic exercises only. I want to incorporate light weightlifting as well. Can pacemaker patients safely lift weights?
