Does Lasix Of Lopressor Cause Uncontrollable Anger?

My father has been having uncontrolable anger....he was never like that before, sure he would get angry but not to the point he has been lately. My father is 79 years old and was going through CHF with a pulse rate of 33, he lived with that pulse rate for a good week and half to almost 2 weeks, because a cardiologist felt he didn t need a pacemaker at the time.....go figure.....so by the time was rushed to the hospital in cardiac arrest (his bpn was 2,900), he had a pacemaker inserted on May 25th. Dad is on lasix, takes 1 asprin a day (325mg), a low presser medication (don t know the name), he has remicade injection every 8 weeks, medrol, simvastatin, calcium and I think that might be the total of his meds.

Hi,

Lasix (furosemide) and Lopressor (metoprolol) are both medications used to treat heart conditions such as high blood pressure and heart failure. While both medications have potential side effects, uncontrollable anger is not a commonly reported side effect of either medication.

However, certain individuals may experience changes in mood or behavior as a result of taking medications, and this can vary from person to person. It is important to discuss any concerning symptoms with a healthcare provider, who can evaluate whether the medication may be contributing to the symptoms and make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan.

Additionally, it is possible that other factors, such as the stress of managing a chronic health condition or the recent hospitalization, may be contributing to your father's anger. Counseling or therapy may help address any emotional concerns.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
