Is It Safe To Consume Gabapentin To Stop Hot Flashes?

My doctor gave me Gabapentin to stop hot flashes at night, as she toook me off Harmones pills cold turkey as she said that it makes Cancer cells grow. I am 69 year old and still have all my parts. Is this the right meditation for this

Please advise.

Your doctor is right about one thing. Hormones lead to cancer cells growth and is not wise to use at the age of 69 . Gabapentin is a GABA analog and is an anticonvulsant as well as a central acting pain killer, Hot flashes might be indication of anxiety which has an off label indication for gabapentin in low doses.
If your doctor has prescribed it he has some thing in mind. But hot flashes at the age of 69 cant be due to hormonal imbalances as it is far far away from menopause.
Do as directed by your doc. It is safe and wise.
