Is It Possible For Endometriosis To Reoccur After Hysterectomy?
I had a hysterectomy 24 years ago because I had endometriosis. I had one ovary removed. I have been symptom free all of this time. I am 58 years old a nd uhh ave gone through a natural menopause. The Last several weeks I have been experiencing pain that reminds me of the pain I had for so many years before the hysterectomy. Pain in my lower back, pain in my pelvic area, and pain urinating or with a bowel movement. It doesn t make sense to me, but it feels like the endometriosis has reoccured. Is that possible?
Hello, Thanks for letting us know your health concern. It is not likely that your endometriosis could have recurred. Stoppage of ovulation is associated with reduction in the disease process. However, if peritoneal and deeply infiltrated lesions were not removed during the surgery, it is possible for the disease to recur. A 2-3 %chance has been observed. I suggest a specialist evaluation in person to clarify. The pain could also be due to mineral deficiency. Hope this helps.
