Is It Okay To Miss Sugar Pills Of Microgynon To Get Periods?

Hi, My gynae has told me to take Microgynon 30 ED starting tonight for 10 days to bring on a period. I just wanted to clarify that I don't take the sugar pills, is that correct? as the package says to start in the red section (the sugar pills) but I believe that is if your are using it as contrecption, where I am using it so I can get a period. Thanks

Hello and welcome,

It is absolutely fine if you do not take the sugar pills. However you must start your next pack exactly the same day after the sugar pills would have ended had you taken them irrespective of the periods. Sometimes periods do not come while taking microgynon so this is not an indication to stop taking the new pack.

The sugar pill days or pill free days are a part of the contracpetive cycle as the drug is not meant to be taken every day. So you are protected even on the sugar pill days also.
