Is It Normal To Have Swollen Lymph Nodes After Taking Antibiotics?

Hello, I am 33, and I am scheduled to get my infected upper right wisdom tooth extracted in August. My question is I am taking two antibiotics for the infection: 1 is Amoxicillin 3x per day and I cant recall the other twice a day. I am on my last day of the prescription but I just noticed that my throat lymph nodes are swollen. Is this normal or what should I do?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms the swollen lymph nodes are due to REACTIONERY LYMPHADINITIS in which due to infection the regional lymph nodes draining the area of infection gets inflamed and swollen..

Nothing to worry, as the infection will subside the lymph nodes will also regress in size.
You should continue taking medicines as advised by your dentist but the extraction should be done at the earliest for a permanent relief and extraction will also be followed by antibiotics and painkillers..

You should also do alternate warm [not hot] and cold compresses over the lymph nodes for faster regression..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
