Is It Normal To Have Sharp Stabbing Pain Before Replacing Pacemaker?

I have had a pacemaker for 8 years. I am now 31. Its about due to be replaced. I have always gotten sharp stabbing pains that last about 30 seconds. Usually once a week or so. Also, when I lay down there is a dual pain. Is this normal. Should I ask about it?
