Is It Normal To Have Problems With Urination At The Age Of 60?
I take time to urinate . Frequency is increasing gradually. My USG indiacates grade-1 prostatomegaly. I am taking atorvitcb10, enace d10 and enace 5 for hypertension and heart problem. My angiogram shows 30% damage. I am now 60yrs. Whether my problem of urination is normal.
The prostate is a potato shaped organ in the base of urinary bladder. It sits on the proximal urethra and therefore when it is enlarged then it creates pressure when the patient with prostatomegaly tries to pass urine causing incomplete voiding of urine. After some time the bladder fills up again and then the patient will try to pass urine and the cycle continues.
In the elderly, at 60 years age 10 to 20 percent of men have prostatomegaly and the symptoms of increased frequency is there. After 80 years age there is prostatomegaly in 80 percent men and the symptoms increase with many having retention of urine.
You please get your prostate measured every 6 months and start medicines recommended by your doctor and keep prostate size in control. Doing PSA test every 1 to 2 years is recommended to know if there is a chance for development of prostate cancer. Please do not worry.
