Is It Normal To Have Pelvic Pain And Pressure After Hysterectomy?

Hi, I had a hysterectomy and a rectacele repair. I still have my ovaries. I am 4 days post op and my pelvic pain is really uncomfortable. My lower pelvic bone feels bruised and is throbbing with a lot of pressure. I have to sit or lay down after 15 min. of standing or walking. How long does this usually last? And, is it normal to not be able to push or bear down for bowel movement, the muscles seem weak. Thank you, Michelle

Hi, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. It is common to have such symptoms of pelvic pressure, bruised feeling in the pelvic around pubic bone and not able to strain while passing urine and stools for approximately 2-3 weeks after vaginal hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair. This is due to extensive tissue handling during surgery and sutures which are applied. This heals completely but 6 weeks.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
