Is It Normal To Have Heaviness And Recurring Pain In Abdomen Post Abortion?
Doc, I went thru a surgical abortion last week, of a 14 week fetus. I had been prescribed medicines post the process, but am undergoing heaviness and recurring pain in my upper and lower abdomen. These are not cramps but recurring pains. Please suggest if this is normal and until how many days will i exp this. Any medicines that can be recommended for this pain?
Hello there, thanks for your query. I understand your concern about recurring pain post process. Normally, a slight discomfort to mild pain in the lower abdomen is expected following surgical termination which can be easily managed with pain killers and will go away in a couple of days. Pain all over abdomen 6 days following termination may or may not be related to the process. You could be having simply a food infection or a complication that follows procedure. A good clinical examination by your doctor and a couple of investigations like ultrasound and blood tests will help to determine the cause for your pain. I suggest you not to ignore the pain but do pay a visit to your doctor office soon. Hope this helps. Take care.
