Is It Normal To Have Discoloration And Nipple Discharge After Having Had A Lumpectomy?

I am a 59 year old female with a breast issue. I had an abnormal Mammogram 6 mons ago and had a 4a lump in my left breast. I had a lumpectomy in July. My left breast has been very tender with discoloration and nipple discharge with terrible shooting pain and discharge from my nipple. I had a normal Mammogram in Jan.2014. I am concerned that something is wrong and possibly has been missed. What should I do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
I understand your concern. If I were a physician treating you, I'd like to know the following:
- What was the pathology of the lumpectomy? Did you need any radiation therapy or the lumpectomy was it? Were you told that you had negative margins from the surgery?
Go back and see the surgeon who did the lumpectomy so that he/she can evaluate the breast. Given the history don't take it lightly, just make sure it's benign.

Hope this helps.
