Is It Normal To Bleed From Clitoris During Menstruation?
My name is Karla and im very worried. When im on my period, i bleed from my clit. I noticed because i use tampons, & a little layer. Its like a really thin pad incase of leaks and theres always a blood spot by where my clit goes. Im wondering if this is normal? And why does it happen?
Hi Thanks for the query. Usually it is not common to have bleeding from the clitoris during menstruation. The possibilities are: -Mistaking the normal menstrual flow as clitorial bleed. Sometimes menstrual blood can get attached to clitoris and can give a picture like bleeding from clitoris. -Injuries or abrasions at clitoris. While using tampons sometimes abrasions can occur over clitoris and that can lead to spotting. -Vicarious bleeding. Sometimes during menstrual flow bleeding can be seen from other parts of the body. -Presence of ectopic endometrial tissue at the clitoris and that can bleed during periods.
If you feel that the bleeding is coming from clitoris and if the episode repeats in every menstrual cycle, better to consult gynecologist and get examined. By examination the cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be planned accordingly. Take care.
