Is It Normal For The Swelling In Knees When Attacked With Flu And Chills?

Hi, I seemed to have come down with the flu about 6 days ago. The only signs of this flu were extreme exhaustion, constant chills and sweats and then eventually a very stiff neck. Now, I no longer have chills or sweats and my appetite has returned. My neck is still a bit stiff but not as bad. I woke up this morning and both knees are swollen quite bad…lots of fluid it appears. Is this normal for a flu like I had. At no time have I felt nausea or any other GI issues.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
As you describe in your query that all symptoms like fever , chills, sweats disappear after a period of 6 days , post flu.
Now there is stiffness of neck & knee joints swelling .
May be due to .
1 Chikungunya is one of the most important fever which develops such type of symptoms , so physical examination by a physician and clinical examination will find out the exact nature of illness.
2 Dengue fever is another such disease which develops such type of symptoms .
Diagnosis of these two can be confirmed by serology examination in a lab.
3 Rheumatoid arthritis may be the another such cause of these symptoms so get in blood for RHEUMATOID FACTOR & also E S R .
However there are so many other diseases causes such type of symptoms as osteoarthritis ( as swelling is only localized in knee joints ) .
In my opinion first of all consult a physician and get his opinion and deal accordingly.
Good luck.
