Is It Necessary To Take Harmones For Thyroid?
i am supposed to get an OP done for my thyroid. Its a struma nodosa with cold nodules. The past 2 years i didn't take iodine tabs. Then it grew bigger. Initially my endo felt i could live with it as long as it didnt increase. I also take vit D but no hormones. My Endo is not for that-he doesnt tell me the reason.
Most other docs wonder whether i take hormones. TSH is ok. I hear its necessary whether or not one gets operated, cos it causes the gland to shrink and thus reduce injuries like of parathyroid.
2. How bad is it if my parathyroid is injured being that i have vitamin D deficiency?

Hai.with ur problem if ur hypothyroid u hav to take, thyroxine .ur advised for surgery even if ur euthyrod to prevent mass effect on the important bloo vessels and structures of the throat better u continue with vitamin d,prophylaxis is better to prevent further complications. Do not take stress. Stress can lead to all variations in the body hormones
