Is It Correct To Take Tobramycin For Redness In Eyes?

My 11 yr old has a cold. Yesterday she woke with a red eye. Yesterday afternoon went to urgent care. She was diagnosed with a cold and conjunctivitis. She was given tobramycin 4x day. As of now there had been no improvement and other eye is slight red ( drops were put in both eyes). Is this the right medicine? Is she still contagious as she missed 2 days of school and we were told to wait 24 hrs

Hello,
It seems from the history that your 11yr old daughter is having cold and red eye because of conjunctivitis.
Conjunctivitis is treated with antibiotic eye drops and tobramycin is a antibiotic eye drop and it can be safely used for treatment of acute conjunctivitis.
Conjunctivitis is usually contagious for 2-3 days and once the discharge decreases it is not infective.
Hence I advice you to continue the eye drops as advised by your doctor.

THANK YOU
