Is It Advisable To Give H1N1 Vaccine Before MMR Due To Unavailability Of Stock?

Hi Doctor, Good Afternoon. My child has entered into 9th month on 22nd of this month. H1N1 vaccine is pending for him for the last month due to non availabity of stock (my doctor said). I checked in one clinic they said H1N1 vaccine is available. Also MMR vaccine is pending for my kid. Can i go for H1N1 vaccine for kid now and MMR vaccine a month later? Your suggestions is needed very much.

Hi,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic,
You can go for Influenza vaccine at present.
At 9th month the scheduled vaccine is Measles vaccine and not MMR vaccine.
MMR vaccine can be given after the age of one year and the routine recommendation of MMR is at the age of 15 months as per IAP schedule.
Consult your Pediatrician for the appropriate advise on your child vaccination.
Hope I have answered your query.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

No you cannot give MMR vaccine now.

It has to be given after 15 months of age.

You should give measles vaccine to your child.

Yes you can go a head with H1N1 vaccination.

Hope this helps.
