Is it OK to smoke after Bare Metal Stent placed?

Hi, yesterday I had a Bare Metal Stent placed. I'm a woman of 42. I was diagnosed with something like GERD a month ago and since then have completely changed my diet to practically non-fat, non-acid, no-salt diet and drink only water (lots!). I still have one habit I'm having a hard time with... I smoke hasj with tobacco (about 5 joints a day). Is this seriously harmful to my arteries or does it actually keep my arteries open? I had a heartattack the last month and don't want another one. Can you give my advice?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Gastroesophageal reflux disease, commonly referred to as GERD or acid reflux, is a condition in which the liquid content of the stomach regurgitates (backs up or refluxes) into the esophagus. One of the simplest treatments for GERD is referred to as life-style changes, a combination of several changes in habit, particularly related to eating.Fatty foods (which should be decreased) and smoking (which should be stopped) also reduce the pressure in the sphincter and promote reflux. so both should be avoided..

By constricting the blood vessel walls to raise blood pressure, nicotine in smoke decreases the amount of blood that can pass through the vessels. Impaired circulation means that less oxygenated blood can reach every part of the body, which can trigger a wide range of medical problems including heart i would advise you to stop smoking..

A good Sunday! I've only had 2 smokes today...! Can it be that seriously reducing or quitting smoking can give you light headaches? And do you know what one joint is in comparison to one cigarette, there are different opinions on that, can you tell me what yours is? (I smoke hasj not weed) Thanks again! Gr, Rini
