It is safe to have hucog injection. This increases the success rate of ovulation and hence the chance of pregnancy. However, sometimes this injection can cause over stimulation of the follicles which may produce severe pain, abdominal swelling, clotting of blood vessels and swelling of lungs etc., which may be very serious. Hence while using the injections lowest effective dose should be used. Further ultrasound monitoring of follicular growth should be carried out; if this is excessive, the injection has to be withdrawn and hospitalization may be required for management of the above said complications.
