Is Elevated TSH Numbers Concerning?

Hello! Just recently told my TSH numbers are 3x where they should be but never told actual numbers or lab guidelines. Called today after receiving results last Wed. with some questions but was not called back. Never actually told what my number was for initial test. Why not? Very discouraged by doc right now. He wants to do further bloodwork. I'm not sure why. Should I find another doctor?

Endocrinologist 's  Response
Hello and thank you for asking!
I have gone carefully through your concern.
The TSH level is considered problematic and needs to be treated if it is over 10 mUi/ml.
If it is under 10 UI/ml, FT4 and Ft3 should be checked.
If they result is normal, treatment is suggested only if you have signs or symptoms of under active thyroid (constipation, weight gain, dry skin, feeling sleepy ect).
In your case it should have been over 10 mUi/ml so treatment should have been started.
Rather to change doctor or not, it is a decision that should be made by you.

Hope i have been helpful.

Best wishes,
Dr.Mirjeta
