Is Ear Pain And Fever Due To An Ear Infection?

My 5 year old daughter has complained of earache, had fever of up to 39.5 & head cold since last Friday. I've had her ear checked by 3 drs who confirmed no secondary infection, she has a virus. Is it normal for a temperature & earache to last as long as this?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your daughter have ear pain and fever which is due to ear infection as sometimes infection of upper respiratory track infection that has spread to ear through Eustachian tube. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis. You should go for otoscopic examination and start treatment after proper examination. Give her paracetamol for fever. Take anti-inflammatory medication. Apply warm compresses on ear. Put ciplox or gatiflox ear drops. Avoid touching or pricking it with sharp object.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
