Is Bilirubin Level Of 11.5 A Cause For Concern While Treating Jaundice?

Hi. My baby girl is 14 days old. She has been diagnosed with Jaundice with bilirubin 17.6. After 3 days she is still kept in phototherapy abdominal she is given 125 mg Taxis injection twice a day. Apart from this she is also regularly given saline. Her bilirubin is dropped to 11.5 on the third day of admission still she is given injection and saline . Please advise if the hospital is doing right thing.

Thank you fir your question.
Yes the hospital is doing the right thing by phototheraphy and injections . The bilirubin has dropped and there is all the evidence that it all drop more. . Let the doctors continue with good work. High bilirubin is not uncommon in neotates and can cause brain damage when not treated well with phototheraphy .
Consult neonatologist for advice.
