Hi

Treatment of stage 4 lung cancer consist of palliative chemotherapy along with basic supportive care.
Your father needs to do EGFR and ALK mutation test in his biopsy sample and if found to be positive then oral chemotherapy with erlotinib and crizotinib with lesser side effects are suggested to keep his disease under control and improve his quality of life.
