Is An Extra Atenolol Pill Advisable For Elevated Blood Pressure Level?

I USED TO TAKE ATENOLOL BID YRS AGO, THEN WENT BACK TO ONE ATENOLOL AND ONE LOTENSIN ABOUT 8 YRS AGO DUE TO LOW BP. RECENTLY I HAVE BEEN IN PAIN WITH A BACK INJURY AND I NOTED MY SBP AND DBP WAS RISING AROUND 7 PM. I WAS THINKING ABOUT ADDING THE ONE ATENOLOL BACK TO SEE IF THAT WOULD SOLVE IT. I AM A FLOOR NURSE AND DON T HAVE TIME RIGHT NOW TO FIND A DOCTOR. JUST MOVED FROM FL TO THE DALLAS AREA.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you are noticing a rise in your blood pressure in the evening you can definitely add Atenolol 50 once a day in the evening but make sure that you track your blood pressure regularly to avoid hypotension.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma Amman
