Is An Arm Sling Necessary After Implanting A Pacemaker?

Is it really necessary for patients to have their arm in a sling when out of bed after 24 hours of permanent pacemaker implantation? I m curious as a therapist in what common practice is because all of the protocols I am finding online either don t indicate a sling at all or only indicate for up to 24 hours. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear Greetings
Regarding whether a patient should use an arm sling 24hrs after permanent pacemaker implant I will suggest it enhance blood flow to the heart and prevent severe pain around the surgical region and this is depends on the patient if they can withstand discomfort within or after 24hrs

I hope this helps Regards
