Is Zyrtec Safe For Children Under 12?

Is Zyrtec safe for children under 12? My son aged 6 has hay fever type allergy, and barely slept all night because of a blocked nose and sneezing. It s not a cold, it s allergy. I have paediatric Zyrtec syrup - how much can I give him and is it safe?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Zyrtec is Cetirizine which is used for allergy symptoms and let me tell you that it is absolutely safe for children under 12.

But you will have to take care of the dose so I'll suggest consulting a pediatrician or it would have been better had you mentioned the age of the kid.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
