Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My white blood count is 3.3. It has been running low for a year. The doctor said if it dropped below 3, he would do a bone marrow test. I just turned 70, still working full time in a law firm, hypoglycemic, BP usualy about 105/75 but can drop to 75/50-something. Upbeat and active... I do have a small brainstem tumor they ve watched for 3 years but nothing changing with it. what questions should I be asking?
hello, low WBC count is not always pathological. its normal range would change depending on your age, ethnicity. so as long as you dont have any other symptoms and other investigations are normal we dont treat just for low WBC count. but you should always monitor it regularly. pathological low white cell count for long period is not always due to malignancies and infections. Benign causes like vitamin deficiencies also cause low WBC counts. so better ask your doctor about that also. Hope this helps. Thank you.
