Is PEP Effective If Taken 24 Hours After Exposure?

Dear Doctor, 2 months ago I had anal sex with a girl I met, the condom broke and after 24 hours I took pep for 28 days, I did a 4th gen test 3 weeks after I was done with pep, it was negative. How accurate is this result? I have been really worried, thanks for answering my question.

hi sir...about ur question i would like to inform u that pep if begin within 36 hours of exposure it will be very effective...so u have pep at the ideal time for that..and that is good ....althaugh we need to follow up hiv ab test and pcr..but early administration of antiviral drugs must begin within 36 hours to be best protected...next part of ur question sir about the accuracy of the test i would like to tell u that there is aprotocol for testing hiv ..we do ab test and pcr..if both negative it means u r accurate safe now....if ab positive and pcr less than 50..u r safe....if ab positive and pcr 50 -5000 we repeat the test ...
it was good behaviour from u sir to start pep within the time and to test for hiv......please take care of ur health....and thank u for contacting us
