Hi,

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is hormonal imbalance, that occurs, when your ovaries (The organ that produces and releases eggs) create excess hormones. In PCOS, the ovaries produce, unusually high levels of hormones called androgens. This causes your reproductive hormones to become imbalanced. As a result people with PCOS often have irregular menstrual cycle, missed periods and unpredictable ovulation.

Small follicle cysts (Fluid filled sacs with immature eggs) may be visible in ovaries on ultrasound due to lack of ovulation. Many follicles containing immature eggs may develop around the edge of ovaries and this may result in enlarged size of ovaries. Though, the ovarian cysts in PCOS are not dangerous or painful, still, it is one of the common cause of infertility in women.

Besides, infertility, PCOS also causes other symptoms of androgenic effect like abnormal hair growth, acne, obesity, darkening of skin, presence of skin tags, symptoms of patchy baldness etc. Treatment of PCOS will be by medicines or change in life style or both. Use of Gynovit syrup, is advised by some gynecologists, though it is not specific for treatment of PCOS, still, it has been said to be specific against so many gynecological disorders, particularly menstrual irregularities.

However, there is no comparative study available, about its definite role in PCOS. Though PCOS can not be cured, but the symptoms can be tackled with proper treatment. Clomiphene and Letrozole can be given orally and gonadotrophins by injections to induce ovulation. In some rare cases, surgical procedure can be done by removing the androgen producing tissue from the ovary. However, surgical procedure is needed very rarely these days, as more and more effective drugs are available, which can help in inducing ovulation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
