Is Neosporin The Right Medicine For Pain And Itchiness In The Vaginal Area?

My daughter just had a vaginally birth, received stitches for a perinatal tear and neglected to come home with the betadine treatment. She s now in a lot of pain and itching. Until we can get to her doctor is it OK to put neosporin with pain reliever on the stitches? Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to bacterial vaginosis. Instead of Neosporin, you can apply clotrimazole powder or pessaries locally. Take tablet loratadine for itching. Use v wash. Maintain proper hygiene.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shyam B. Kale, General & Family Physician
