Suggest Medicine For Flank Pain Other Than Advil Medicine

after 10 years of gross hematuria, flank pain, and surgery to remove a tumor wrapped around my ureter, I have been diagnosed with alport syndrome. The flank pain is constant, I take 6 advil every 4 hours and that really doesn t help. Anything I can take that is not a narcotic?

Hi,

The problem is that Advil and other medications in this family of meds (NSAIDs), can cause kidney damage if used consistently. This family of medications includes naproxen, aspirin, Celebrex etc.

Other than narcotics and NSAIDs, the other pain medication would be paracetamol and this may not be effective with severe pain.

You may need to consider seeing a pain control doctor see what he or she recommends to help ease your discomfort.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
