Is MRI Report A Cause For Concern?

I had a cervical fusion 2 years ago at c5-c6 I just had an MRI and it showed that I have a 1mm grade 1 retrolisthesis at c6-c7,small left foraminal disc protrusion at c6-c7 resulting in mild left foraminal stenosis. Is this something that I need to see a surgeon about?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is degeneration of cervical spine disc between C 5 and C 6 for which you had a fusion surgery. Presently you have a small malalignment of 1 mm between vertebrae C 6 and C 7 and this is resulting in the disc herniating between the bones. The nerve roots pass through these neural foramina and you might have severe nerve root compression at that level. The nerve pain may be controlled with restricted physical activity and pain relief medication. If in severe pain consulting a neurosurgeon is suggested.
