Is Incid MD Intake Safe During Pregnancy?

Hi doctor , I am 5 week pregnant n today i visited to my doctor.. she prescribed me incid MD (levocetrizine dihydrochloride tablets) for cold & cough. which I am experiencing from past 1 week.. I want to know whether it is safe during pregnancy as this drug is antihistamine.

I can understand your concern and appreciate the same.
Levocetrizine is in category B for pregnancy , that means it can be used in pregnancy if clearly indicated.
Levoctrizine has been tested in animal for ill effect(teratogenic effect) in offspring and not found to have any teratogenic effect. There is well designed human study.
So , your doctor is right in prescribing the drug as no risk has been proven while benefit outweighs any possible risk.
