Is Ibgard Advisable For GI Issues Post A Knee Replacement Surgery?

Mu husband is havng GI issues folloing knee replacement surgery. He is one week post op and is home. He has had explosive diarrhea which is better but continue to have lots of gurggling in his gut and explosive gas when on the toilet. This has gone on for several days. No fever, just loud rumbling of gut frequently. I am wondering if IBguard is safe for him to take. This is an OTC med which I have on hand and have taken for my IBS. His other meds include Lorsatin, amlodipine, astorvasatin, oxycodone-acetyminophen, singulair and flonase. Please advise.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are no obvious reasons in your case that your husband cannot take IBgard. You can give it a try, however, in case of thing get worse or he develops a fever or loose motions you must contact your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
