After 72 hours its intake is not advised. However earlier the pill is taken better would be its effectiveness. It works by preventing implantation of fertilized egg on the uterus, which occurs approximately 72 hours of sex. Also Standing for 5-10 minutes, washing vagina & going to toilet doesnot ensures contraception( means is not much effective in preventing pregnancy ). I pill is an emergency contraceptive & should not be used as regular method of contraception. Its usage is recommended in case of emergency such as condom break, unplanned intercouse, etc as other methods may are not useful after having sex . Emergency contraceptive pills such as I-pill have higher side effects than other regular methods of contraception such as regular birth control pill, condom etc. Next time use regular contraceptive pill or condoms for prevention of unwanted pregnancy.
