Is Hida Scan Done Only When Gallbladder Is Not Functioning ?

I had a Hida scan where the nuclear tracer stayed in my gallbladder and didn't release into my intestines. I have upper right quadrant pressure and extremes nausea. Does the Hida scan mean my gallbladder is not functioning ? I have all the symptoms associated with biliary dyskinesia.....no stones have been detected.

Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.

Yes, this is sign of nonfunctioning galbladder and best solution in this case would be cholecystectomy which is simple and routine procedure today.

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
