Is HCG Diet Recommended After Treatment For Liver Abscess?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... hi, I have a friend who had used reductil a year ago and developed a liver abscess. She is now fine and has sgpt at 56 and gamma gt at 99, she wants to do the HCG diet, should she?

Thanks for posting your query on HCM.

Because of the safety concerns Food and Drug Administration has approved HCG's use mainly to treat fertility issues.
HCG is not approved for over-the-counter use, nor has it been proved to work for weight loss

Side effects have also been reported with the HCG diet and include fatigue, irritability, restlessness, depression, fluid buildup (edema).
Another serious concern is the risk of blood clots forming and blocking blood vessels (thromboembolism).

In view of the raised liver enzymes and the risk associated with the use of hCG it is better not to be used with an intention of losing body weight.
She may use other life style modifications to shed the extra calories.

Absolutely not! I wish I knew where you lived as I have had tons of questions about this diet which will kill you if you stay on it long enough. To answer your question: NO NO NO
HCG is human chorianic gonadotropin, a hormone secreted during pregnancy and has nothing to do with weight loss. It is a placebo. It is also illegal for sale in the U.S. The diet is so low in calories and nutrients it can cause gallstones, irregular heartbeats and electrolyte imbalances.
