Is Gabapentin Safe For The Treatment Of Backache And Leg Pain?

I have been given Gabapentin 300mg to treat a buldging disc in my back that is causing pain in my left hip & down my leg. The prescription was written by a PA not the doctor & I am concerned that it is not FDA approved & I do not have seizures nor have I had shingles.

Gabapentin is also commonly used to treat chronic or persisting pain or neuralgia (nerve related pain), it also treats other symptoms of neuropathy such as numbness, tingling, burning etc.

It is effective for these conditions. If you have any of these symptoms or conditions, this would be the reason for the prescription.

If it does not work for you, there are alternatives.
