Is Fluconazole The Right Medicine For White Spots On The Tongue?
Hello I have had some white spots on the sides of my tongue now for a month. I think it's thrush. This is the first time this has happened to me! I've seen my doctor already and he prescribed Fluconazole 200MG. I refilled it and took it for 20 days. It didn't heal the thrush! I still have it. Now it's painful when I eat and the back of my throat on the left hurts. I have been brushing my teeth 2 times a day n rinsing and gargling with warm salted water. What else can I do to get it of these thrush? I'm tired of this! It's painful when I watch! Please help. Thank you!
Well, Oral Thrush commonly represents itself as thick cheesy coating on the surface of tongue and in case if after taking Fluconazole for 20 days, if it still did not subside then it is probably due to to some other cause..
So my suggestion is to first of all get it confirmed..
You should consult an Oral Surgeon and get a biopsy done for ruling out the cause and treatment can be done once the cause can be diagnosed..
As of now to relieve pain you can apply Lidocaine gel over the sore areas of tongue.. Suck ice pops to relieve inflammation and pain.. Take a soft diet and avoid spicy and hard foods to prevent further irritation.. Continue doing salt water rinses..
Hope your query is resolved..
Regards.
