I am 7 weeks pregnant and have just discovered a 4cm cyst (filled with fluid and not a problem by doctor said). My doctor did say that the cyst may stop some hormones getting to the baby so has prescribed me 10mg x2 daily of Duphaston - is this it's normal or common use? Is it safe to take during pregnancy?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Duphaston is a progesteron preparation. It is a hormone that supports & helps maintenance of pregnancy & fetal growth. It is used in pregnancy with a risk of low progesteron supply to baby- & thus prevents abortion. It is not only safe but also helpful in pregnancy. Please don't worry, continue with Duphaston as advised. & continue followup examinations as advised. Thanks.
