Is Clotrimazole Effective In The Treatment Of Surgical Wounds?

After a hysterectomy which required an episiotomy (2 cuts) I was prescribed Clotrimozole to put on the sore area, which continued to hurt and did not regain it s flexibility. But all I ve read about this cream says it is sued for vaginal yeast infections. Can this really help my sore vagina? Thanks, LJ

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You are absolutely correct that Clotrimazole is used for vaginal yeast infection. If you are looking for something for your sore vagina, you should try using some over the counter Anesthetic (numbing) gel which has Lidocaine or Prilocaine in it.

Hope this helps you with the pain.I am here if you need any other advice !Get well soon!
