Is Benicare Safe To Be Taken Without Side Effects?
I was given a prescription for Benicar but the information sheet said not to take if you are diabetic and have kidney problems. I do not have high blood pressure and am afraid to take this medicine. was told this would protect my liver. what should I do?

Hi,
Olmesartan has got a renal protective effect in addition to decreasing blood pressure.
It retards the nephropathy induced by HTN and DM2.
You can safely take this if your creatinine and eGFR are normal.
It should be immediately stopped, once the renal dysfunction sets in.
