Irregular Period, Had Protected Sex, Pregnancy Test Negative, On Minocycline. Suggestion?

I have a question. Is it possible that Minocycline is delaying my period?

My last period was on August 27th and I am a regular 28 day cycle.

I began taking Minocycline on September 15th.

I had protected sex on the morning of September 15th which I should not have been fertile base on ovulation calculators.

I took a pregnancy test on September 26th and it was negative (3 days after I should have started my period)

Please give me your best analysis of my situation.

Hi,

First you need to get pregnancy confirmed. Please do serum beta hCG blood test which will diagnose presence of pregnancy. It is accurate and reliable.

Psychiatrist Dr. Anjana Rao Kavoor's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

Menstrual irregularities are not known to occur with the use of minocycline.

You might be pregnant and a home pregnancy test is accurate usually 15 days after possible unprotected sex.

If you are not pregnant, my suggestion is to look for the causes like stress and anxiety, depression, over exercising, sudden weight loss or gain (obesity), thyroid disorders and hormonal imbalance due to polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).

I suggest consulting a gynecologist if your periods are much delayed.

Hope this helps
