Infant Has Fever And His Blood Test Reveals High TLC Levels And Low HB Level. What Does It Mean?

Hi my nephew is 2 months old and he is having fever after 15 days of birth. Doctor gave him antibiotics for 21 days but again he is having fever. All test are done. Blood culture, urine culture reports, x ray's ultrasound, all reports are normal. His crp is fine but tlc is on higher side. In latest report hb also reduced. Pls suggest what we shd do.

Hi, I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. Since the total white blood cell count is high and haemoglobin is decreasing, it is obvious that there is still a bacterial infection going on. May be the blood sample for culture was collected when the child was not having a fever. it is also important to know if the antibiotics that the child took for 21 days were of the same kind or were being changed along the way as the child was not responding to treatment because the germ could be resistant to the drugs given. In my opinion, I would suggest you consult an infectiologist or pediatrician for proper evaluation.
I hope I answered your query
i wish your nephew good health
