Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Infant. On And Off Fever, Detected Throat Infection. On Crocin And Amoxicillin. Reason For Fever?
My daughter has been detected with throat infection and in between fever come and go, we have been giving her crocin 8 ml when fever comes(she is 1 year old, weighing 7 kgs, premature baby). She has been given amoxicillin for last 5 days 5ml 3 times a day.Not sure why fever comes even after giving her antibiotics, please suggest.
If the fever persists despite using that antibiotic one cause of fever is that there could be another cause of fever which should be looked into. Your daughter requires investigations to identify the cause for fever. Is there any history of cough or crying while passing urine or increased frequency of urination or cold etc?
If the fever persists further examination and investigations may be required which should include CBC, Urine examination, peripheral smear for malarial parasite, widal, blood culture, etc.
Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care.

For a 7 kg child, 4ml of crocin-120 mg syrup is sufficient.
And amoxicillin dose 5 ml thrice daily is in excess of dose as per her weight.
I advise you to consult the pediatrician for the proper dosage prescription and reevaluation.
And if the is not subsided with the proper antibiotic course , I advise you to investigate for the causes of fever with CBP, Malarial parasite, CUE, and widal test with the advise of your pediatrician.
